After not making much of an impact in his first game as a Patriot last week, things changed in a hurry for Mohamed Sanu Sunday night against the Ravens.
The 30-year-old finished with 10 receptions on 14 targets (a team-high) for 81 yards and a touchdown in the 37-20 loss to the Ravens.
Appearing on The Greg Hill Show Monday, Tom Brady had high praise for his newest wide receiver.
"He did a great job and just did a great job finding the little spots in the zones and catches the ball well and runs hard," he said. "I thought he did a great job for us. It's a real credit to him two weeks in and have that type of contribution. We're going to need a lot more as we go forward really from everybody. Really everybody at this point is going to have to take it to the next level. This is when football season gets tough.
"It's a lot of mental and physical toughness we're going to need. We'll need it from Mo (Mohamad Sanu), we'll need it from Jules (Julian Edelman), we'll need it from Phillip (Dorsett) and the tight ends and the backs and the line and everything. We have a long, tough stretch ahead of us and we're going to have to play our best football."
While it's sometimes dangerous to read into things, Brady did not name rookies N'Keal Harry or Jakobi Meyers. He also did not offer much when asked if he was surprised by Harry not being active with his first response being, "in what sense?"
"Yeah, again Coach (Bill Belichick) makes all those decisions, so I just go out there and try and play," Brady said.
Brady finished 30-for-46 with 285 yards, a touchdown and an interception, although it is worth noting 20 of his 30 completions went to Edelman and Sanu.
