Tom Brady, Buccaneers reportedly still 'trying to finalize contract language'

It's the new league year and Tom Brady is free to sign with any team he wants, so why hasn't his deal with the Buccaneers been completed?

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Tampa Bay and Brady are still trying to finalize contract language and those discussions will go into Thursday. The report notes contract language is more challenging than any other offseason, but no problems are foreseen.

Deals cannot become official until physicals are completed and those cannot happen due to travel restrictions because of coronavirus. It's unclear if that is what the hold up is, but teams are not allowed to officially announce signings until physicals are done.

Per MMQB's Albert Breer, Brady made it clear to teams he wanted a two-year commitment with guarantees for $60 million, but teams could get creative -- it wasn't all about the money. This was because Brady wanted his new team to have financial flexibility to add other pieces.

It does not appear like there will be any issues with the deal getting done, but it is rather interesting it hasn't been completed yet.
