Last week it was announced Tom Brady is putting out a new documentary called, "Tom vs. Time," which is profiling the Patriots quarterback, but focusing on things besides football and more on his life off the field.
The quarterback didn't have much to say about it last week, but offered some insight Tuesday morning when appearing on Kirk & Callahan.
"Just some personal things. It was just an opportunity," Brady said when asked what the goal of it is. "Like I said, I have been asked to do a lot of things over the years and some have been a lot of fun to do and some haven't. You try some things and you kind of have just different opportunities you do at different times."
Most of the work Brady did for it occurred during the offseason and hasn't impacted anything during the season.
"It was really the off-season for me," he said. "My work was — it was something we talked about like in February. I did most of it in March. It was March, April, May, June and a little bit in July. My focus has been on football. Kind of like with other things that happen in the offseason, once football season comes alive I think everyone in my life knows where my focus needs to be. It's not to say everything in my life stops, it's just my participation in a lot of things turns to where it needs to be, which is football and getting ready to be the best quarterback I can be for our team."
The subject of how much longer the 40-year-old plans to play was brought up and it was noted that at home it's almost like Brady just needs to tell his wife and kids in just a couple of more years he will be home all the time and they will get sick of him.
"It's like you have a microphone in my house. That is a daily conversation," Brady interjected.
So, when will that time come? How many years does he have left?
"That's a good question. I think work is a great part of my life," Brady said. "I love doing it and hopefully I can play until I can't play at a great level. When I can't help a team win then I don't want to be part of a team. You are doing a team a real disservice if you're taking up space and not playing at a championship level. That is what I want to do. I work hard at it, just like everybody on our team does and I love playing quarterback for our team. My life kind of knows that and they support me. I am very grateful for that support because without that support I couldn't do it."
