BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Vince Wilfork knows a thing or two about winning Super Bowls, as he won two during his time with the Patriots.

The defensive tackle signed a one-day contract earlier this year to retire as a member of the Patriots, and on Thursday, he spoke to the Patriots in advance of Super Bowl LII.

According to the pool report, following practice Thursday the team gathered around him at midfield. His main message was there will be plenty of distractions leading up until game time, but to remember why you're here.

"He's a great leader for us, team captain 11 years," Bill Belichick said to pool reporter Nicki Jhabvala. "A lot of friends here on the team, some new faces. But a guy that was very well-respected and had tremendous leadership on the team. It was good to see him."

Wilfork won Super Bowl XXXIX and Super Bowl XLIX with the Patriots.
