FOXBORO -- It's been a tough first season in the NFL for Patriots cornerback Duke Dawson.
The second-round pick battled injuries in the preseason and then was placed on injured reserve just prior to Week 1 with a hamstring injury. The Florida product was activated off injured reserve during the bye week, but has since been inactive in each of the two games he was able to play in.
Speaking Wednesday, Bill Belichick was asked why that's been the case.
“We’re trying to win games,” he said. “Other than that, nothing.”
Although he didn't play in Sunday's game against the Vikings, he did earn one of the Patriots' practice players of the week.
"He's doing well," Belichick added.
Cornerback is a very crowded position on the roster with Stephon Gilmore, Jason McCourty, JC Jackson, Jonathan Jones, Keion Crossen and now Dawson.
