FOXBOROUGH -- Stephon Gilmore continues to prove he's one of, if not the best cornerback in the NFL.
Gilmore was matched up with Odell Beckham Jr. in Sunday's game, and he was the clear-cut winner.
Beckham Jr. finished with five catches on seven targets for 52 yards, but one went for 31 yards on a spectacular catch in garbage time where Gilmore was in perfect position. But, despite the performance and Patriots win, Gilmore said he was going to have trouble sleeping Sunday night.
In the fourth quarter, Gilmore switched off Beckham Jr. and undercut a Jarvis Landry route. Baker Mayfield never saw him and it seemed like it would be an easy interception, but the ball went right through Gilmore's hands.
"I should have picked that," he said. "I'm not going to sleep tonight for that. I'm not going to sleep."Even with the missed interception, Gilmore enjoyed the challenge of going up against Beckham Jr.
"It was fun to compete," he said. "Good players competing against each other is fun."
Beckham Jr. had nothing but praise for Gilmore after the game as well.
Gilmore and the Patriots will now take on the Ravens on the road next Sunday night.
