Xander Bogaerts hit his 300th career extra-base hit against the Twins Monday night in Minnesota. It took him 830 games to achieve that mark and he extended the Red Sox’ win streak to six -- two birds, one stone.
The Sox won the first game against Minnesota 2-0 thanks to a dominant pitching performance from Rick Porcello and Bogaerts' RBI double to deep right-center field in the ninth inning that added to Boston’s lead.
The very next night the Sox and Twins would spend a considerable amount of time together, taking nearly six hours through 17 innings to decide a winner. Bogaerts singled to left in the fifth and tallied his 301st extra-base hit with a double to center in the 15th inning. Ultimately the Twins came out on top 4-3 thanks to a Max Kepler walk-off.
Bogaerts is batting .300 on the season to go along with 48 RBIs. The Red Sox look to bounce back and steal Game 3 of the series Wednesday night in Minnesota.
