Ever since LeBron James signed his four-year, $154 million deal with the Lakers, murals of the King have been popping up throughout Los Angeles.
As quickly as they've emerged -- and probably a little too quickly (let the man put a Lakers jersey on first) -- they've been vandalized. Spray paint messages like "we don't want you," "No King," and "3-6" (James' record in the NBA Finals) make it clear Lakers fans aren't universally thrilled about their brand new stacked team.
The LeBron James "King Of LA" mural has already been vandalized in the city of Los Angeles. With "We don't want you" written over it. That's the difference. There is no Cleveland loyalty and respect in LA for LeBron. pic.twitter.com/htUICsP0Ci
— Vern Thompson (@VernThompson) July 8, 2018Apparently Lakers president Jeanie Buss has an explanation for this that absolves her team's fanbase of any salt.
"They're not Laker fans," she jabbed, "I guess I just didn't realize how many people from Boston live in Los Angeles."
