Bruins could be without Chris Wagner after injury suffered blocking shot

The Bruins took a 3-0 series lead with a 2-1 win over the Hurricanes in Raleigh Tuesday night, but it wasn't all good news.

Chris Wagner, who scored the Bruins' first goal of the game to give them a 1-0 lead, suffered what appeared to be an arm or wrist injury after blocking a Justin Faulk slapper late in the third period.

Wagner was slow to get back to the Bruins bench and clearly in a lot of pain. After a minute or two on the bench, he made his way across the ice, down the tunnel and to the locker room.

Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy didn't have an official diagnosis or update after the game, but things didn't sound promising. Reporters in Raleigh spotted Wagner with his arm in a sling after the game.

"I don't have an update. He's not good right now," Cassidy said. "When he came off, obviously in a lot of pain. Probably have something for you tomorrow."

If Wagner can't play in Game 4 Thursday night, the Bruins could go with either Karson Kuhlman or Noel Acciari, who is just returning from injury himself. Acciari would seemingly be the more natural fit given that he has plenty of experience in the fourth-line right wing spot Wagner had been occupying alongside Sean Kuraly and Joakim Nordstrom.
