The Bruins locked themselves into a first-round matchup with the Hurricanes when they lost to the Capitals Sunday afternoon, and now we know the schedule for the series.
The Bruins and Hurricanes will open their best-of-seven series Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. Game 2 is Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, followed by Game 3 Saturday at noon. As the higher seed, the Bruins will be the "home" team and get last change for Games 1, 2, 5 and 7.
The teams go into the series with exact opposite records, as the Bruins went 0-3 in the round-robin tournament while the Hurricanes swept the Rangers in three games in their play-in series.
If there's any silver lining for the Bruins, it could be that by the time this series starts, the Hurricanes will have gone a full week without playing a game. The Hurricanes are expected to be without defenseman Brett Pesce for the series, but they could have former Bruin Dougie Hamilton -- who also missed the play-in round -- back in time for Game 1.
