Patriots reportedly finalizing trade for DE Michael Bennett

We don't know if the Patriots will be able to keep Trey Flowers, but they're already making a move to beef up their pass rush.

According to multiple reports, New England is finalizing a trade with the Eagles to acquire defensive end Michael Bennett. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports the Patriots will be giving up a fifth-round pick in 2020 while also getting a 2020 seventh-round pick back from the Eagles.

Bennett, 33, had nine sacks last season and has had seven or more in six of the last seven seasons. He made the Pro Bowl three straight years from 2015-2017. His cap number is $7.2 million for 2019 and jumps up to $8 million in 2020.

Bennett's brother, Martellus, won a Super Bowl with the Patriots in 2016. Michael Bennett was on the Seahawks team the Patriots beat in Super Bowl XLIX.
