The Bruins won't have to worry about Nazem Kadri for the rest of their first-round series against Toronto.
The NHL Department of Player Safety announced late Monday afternoon that the Maple Leafs center has been suspended for the remainder of the series for crosschecking Jake DeBrusk in the head in third period of the Bruins' Game 2 win.
Kadri and DeBrusk had been going back and forth all game, and Kadri was upset with what he believed was a knee-on-knee hit in the second period. After DeBrusk landed a hard, clean hit on Marleau in the third period, Kadri went way over the line by retaliating with the crosscheck.
This is the fifth career suspension for the 28-year-old Kadri. In April 2016, he was suspended for a similar retaliatory crosscheck to the face of Detroit's Luke Glendening, and he was also suspended for three games in last year's first-round series against the Bruins for boarding Tommy Wingels.
