The legend of Ryan Lochte continues to grow.
The six-time Olympic gold medalist has been suspended 14 months by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency for receving an intravenous infusion, which is a violation of anti-doping rules.
That would be big news in and of itself, but what really makes this story crazy is how Lochte got busted, because the 33-year-old swimmer inadvertently busted himself. The USADA reportedly began investigating Lochte when he posted a photo of himself getting the IV to social media on May 24.
The USADA says Lochte "fully cooperated" with the investigation and officials say he was not using a banned substance. The announcement of the suspension comes two days before the start of the U.S. national championships, where Lochte was set to compete in four events.
Lochte previously served a 10-month suspension for falsely claiming that he and three other swimmers were robbed at gunpoint during the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
