Both Patrice Bergeron and Torey Krug returned to the Boston lineup Sunday night, and with an immediate impact for a Bruins team surging for first place in the Atlantic.
But the Black and Gold may see even more bodies return to action when the club returns to Boston, according to B's head coach Bruce Cassidy.
Still without David Backes (leg laceration), Jake DeBrusk (upper-body), Rick Nash (upper-body), Zdeno Chara (upper-body), and Charlie McAvoy (knee), a return to skating (in Boston) for a few has provided hope from Cassidy that a return is imminent.
"Backes is ready to go, you just have to have a certain timeframe because of that cut," Cassidy said Monday in Winnipeg. "I believe Zee, Charlie, and DeBrusk will join us. I can only speculate.. Thursday's a maybe. But probably by the weekend, we hope."
The road seems to be a bit longer for the 33-year-old Nash, though, as he continues to recover from a hit absorbed in a 3-0 win over the Lightning on Mar. 17.
"He's the one right now that might be the farthest out. I haven't been around so I don't know the ins and outs of exactly where he's at with his recovery," Cassidy said. "That's' the best I can give you. Until we're back home in Boston and get a little bit more of an update - I get information, don't get me wrong, but we're not there yet.
"It's a tougher one to project."
