Here's what happened in the Red Sox farm system on Thursday.
TRIPLE-A PAWTUCKET RED SOX (35-36): W, 4- 1 vs. Buffalo
-- Sam Travis drove in two RBIs for the PawSox and went 2-for-4 in the game. The Red Sox No. 5 prospect now has a batting average of .204 in 152 at-bats. Rusney Castillo went 2-for-3 and crossed the plate twice, raising his average to .320. Aneury Tavarez also picked up two hits.
-- Justin Haley improved to 4-6 on the year with a five inning performance, surrendering only one earned run on four hits and striking out two. The 2012 sixth round pick now has a 3.06 ERA for the year.
-- Tyler Thornburg pitched a scoreless sixth inning in relief to lower his Pawtucket ERA to 4.22. Ryan Brasier pitched a shutout ninth to pick up his ninth save of the season.
DOUBLE-A PORTLAND SEA DOGS (26-45): L, 9-1 vs. Reading
-- The Sea Dogs scored their only run of the game on a third inning solo home run by Nick Lovullo, who finished 1-for-3.
-- Kyle Hart was charged with the loss, giving up seven runs on eight hits through six innings. The 25-year-old's ERA jumps to 3.18 on a 5-4 record with the defeat and now owns a .240 opponent batting average through 70 2/3 innings of work.
HIGH-A SALEM RED SOX (32-37): L, 2-1 vs. Frederick
-- Salem fell to Frederick in a rain-shortened game. Jerry Downs went 2-for-3 to raise his average to .242. Santiago Espinal also picked up two hits in three at-bats and scored the Red Sox lone run. The 23-year-old now has an average of .315 to go along with seven home runs and 32 RBIs on 73 total hits.
-- Starter Tanner Houck walked three, but managed to give up only one earned run through five innings while striking out four. He was hit with the loss, and now has a 3-8 record for the year.
SINGLE-A GREENVILLE DRIVE (26-44): W, 6-3 vs. Asheville
-- Greenville used a five run fourth inning to break the game open, proving to be enough insurance for starter Hildemaro Requena who towed seven innings of work while striking out four.
-- Lukas Young threw a scoreless ninth and struck out two to earn his sixth save of the season.
-- Ryan Fitzgerald led the team in RBIs with two on a 3-for-5 day. Michael Osinski went 2-for-4 to raise his season average to .303.
-- Tanner Nishioka and Kevin Suarez each hit a solo homer. Suarez added a double to go 2-for-4, while Nishioka also picked up two hits to jump his average to .328.
SHORT-A LOWELL SPINNERS (3-4): L, 9-3 at Tri-City
-- Xavier LeGrant and Ramfis Berroa each went 1-for-4 with a double.
-- The Red Sox 2018 ninth round pick Brian Brown was charged with the loss after going 2 2/3 while striking out two.
