Tuesday Red Sox Farm Report: Michael Chavis breaks out of slump with 3-for-4 night in Lowell victory

Here’s what happened in the Red Sox farm system on Monday.

TRIPLE-A PAWTUCKET RED SOX (41-46): Scheduled off-day.

DOUBLE-A PORTLAND SEA DOGS (34-53): Scheduled off-day.

HIGH-A SALEM RED SOX (42-44): L, 7-3 vs. Winston-Salem

-- C.J. Chatham, drafted in the second round of the 2016 draft, went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI to raise his average to .322. It is the third straight three-hit game for the 23-year-old. He is now hitting .344 with seven RBIs and four stolen bases in his last 10 games.

-- Jordan Procyshen also picked up an RBI on a 2-for-4 night. The 25-year-old has hit .242 in his last 33 at-bats to jump his season average to .205.

-- Starter Daniel Gonzalez (7-3) was charged with the loss. The 22-year-old righty pitched six innings while striking out one and allowing seven hits, three walks and four earned runs. Gonzalez has a 3.43 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through 76 innings pitched.

-- In relief, Hunter Smith threw a shutout inning and struck out one, while Jake Cosart surrendered an additional three runs in two innings pitched.

SINGLE-A GREENVILLE DRIVE (35-53): W, 6-1 at Asheville

-- Marino Campana hit his 14th home run of the year, a two-run homer in the third inning, and picked up three RBIs for night. The 20-year-old from Santo Domingo is hitting .250 and leads the team in home runs, RBIs (53), and extra-base hits (33).

-- Kervin Suarez went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. The 19-year-old lifted his average to .256 in 270 at-bats (70 games). Suarez has supplied some versatility for Greenville in the lead-off spot, stealing 13 bases while picking up 11 doubles, four triples, five home runs and 26 RBIs.

-- Denyi Reyes earned his eighth win of the year following a six inning outing. The 21-year-old struck out eight, giving up only one run to go with no walks. Reyes lowered his ERA to 1.91 (fourth in the South Atlantic League) and WHIP to 0.92 (third). The righty owns a .212 opponent average through 103 2/3 innings.

SHORT-SEASON, SINGLE-A LOWELL SPINNERS (10-14): W, 9-6 vs Hudson Valley

-- The Spinners reached double figures in the win column by hitting 5-for-16 with runners in scoring position. 2018 draft picks Jarren Duran and Devlin Granberg  each collected two hits. Duran struck out twice, but also scored two runs while tallying a double. Granberg doubled twice. Tyler Esplin drove in two RBIs and scored once, while also tripling in a 2-for-4 performance.

-- Michael Chavis broke his cold 2-for-20 stretch since returning from his suspension by exploding for two doubles and a home run. The 22-year-old (3-for-4) contributed to four of the Spinners nine runs, with two runs scored and two RBIs.

-- Brandon Phillips drew an 0-for-4 game with a strikeout in his third game with Lowell.

-- Thad Ward, the Red Sox fifth-round pick last month, threw two innings and gave up four runs, two earned, on four hits. The 21-year-old struck out two, but also surrendered two home runs. Yorvin Pantoja earned the win in relief for Ward, going four innings while giving up two earned runs on four hits. Pantoja has a 3.24 ERA in three starts this season.

-- Reliever Rio Gomez pitched one inning and kept Hudson Valley off the board, despite allowing a hit and a walk. Gomez has a 0.61 ERA in six appearances. Oddanier Mosqueda struck out two and walked three in a two inning save. His ERA stands at 1.69 through 16 innings of work.
