Pat McAfee explains dumbest play in NFL history vs. Patriots

Friday is the four-year anniversary of the play deemed the dumbest in NFL history.

The Patriots were taking on the Colts and Indianapolis had the ball on fourth down in the third quarter trailing by seven. It lined up nine players to the right, with only the snapper (Griff Whalen, who just joined the team) and the quarterback (safety Colt Anderson) on the left.

The plan was to try and get an offsides penalty, but if not take a delay of game penalty. Instead, Whalen snapped the ball and Anderson was easily stopped and the Patriots took over.

Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show Friday, McAfee, who was the Colts' punter at the time, detailed exactly what happened and how poorly it went.
