When Patrick Chung was indicted for possession of cocaine on June 25 following a visit by police to his home in Meredith, New Hampshire, there was a court date scheduled for Nov. 8.

That will no longer happen, as it has been pushed back.

According to court records made public last Friday, Chung's next court date is now scheduled for Jan. 3, which is the week of the wild card weekend.

“The purpose of this continuance is to allow the parties additional time to exchange information that is relevant to a possible disposition of this case and to present legal arguments relating to the potential suppression issues involved in this case,’’ the prosecution and defense said in a joint statement.

There is a trial date scheduled for March.

Chung potentially could face discipline from the league, but that cannot happen until he is found guilty or admits wrongdoing.
