The decision to allow Tom Brady to walk away and finish his career elsewhere, in Tampa Bay, has left one and many in Patriot Nation scratching their head, among other less profane or self-destructive things. But Patriots fans shouldn’t be caught off guard by their coach and de facto GM, Bill Belichick, making gutsy decisions. One of the many hallmarks of his brilliant coaching career has been fearlessly making ballsy calls. Many of Belichick boldest choices have worked in his favor, none more so than in the person that just left, who he famously stuck with in 2001 when Drew Bledsoe was given the OK to return. Other daring calls - the 2003 MNF safety vs Denver, not calling a timeout at the end of Super Bowl 49 - have helped earn him the genius label. Yet we’d be remiss if we didn’t question the decision making of the greatest football coach ever. I mean, come on, we’re Boston sports fans. It’s what we do.
