Bruins announce training camp roster, including first look at defense without Zdeno Chara, Torey Krug

Bruins training camp begins on Monday, and in advance of that the team announced its training camp roster on Sunday.

It features 24 forwards, 12 defensemen and five goalies. Of course, all eyes will be on the defense and how things look with Zdeno Chara and Torey Krug both leaving in free agency this offseason.


The Bruins' roster features the maximum 36 skaters teams are allowed to have in camp. Teams can have an unlimited number of goalies.

The Bruins open the regular season on Jan. 14 and will have to be down to a 23-man regular roster, plus a 4-6 player "taxi squad" -- a new feature this season to help with potential COVID-related absences. Teams must have three goalies at all times between their active roster and taxi squad.
