The Bruins returned to the ice Sunday for the first time in over a week. While it was a net positive in terms of attendance, they're not completely out of the COVID woods yet.
Seven of the Bruins' 10 players who were in COVID protocol last week were back on the ice, according to reporters who were in attendance.
Those who returned were: Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, Craig Smith, Trent Frederic, Curtis Lazar, Anton Blidh and Jeremy Swayman.
However, Charlie Coyle was also added to the COVID list. Taylor Hall, Brandon Carlo and Oskar Steen -- three of the last Bruins to enter protocol before the break -- all remained unavailable as well.
There is still time for those three to gain clearance before the Bruins' next day, which is currently scheduled for Wednesday in Ottawa. Coyle could be out for 10 days, though.
It's also worth noting that some players who have been cleared to practice and play in the United States may still not be able to travel to Canada on Wednesday. Coach Bruce Cassidy said on Sunday he was awaiting more clarity on exactly which players will and won't be cleared for that trip.
The Bruins' scheduled game against the Penguins on Monday was postponed earlier this weekend, as the NHL delayed every team's return until the 28th. The Bruins have now had five games postponed in total.
With two-thirds of the regular second line missing, it was Jake DeBrusk and Erik Haula lining up with Smith. In other news, Tuukka Rask once again joined the team for practice, even though Swayman and Linus Ullmark were both present.
