Bruins coach Jim Montgomery offered updates on several injured Bruins after Thursday's morning skate.

Jeremy Swayman (lower body) and Derek Forbort (upper body), who were both injured during Tuesday's game in Pittsburgh, have left the team and returned to Boston for further evaluation. Montgomery said both are considered "week-to-week."

UPDATE: The Bruins announced Thursday night that Forbort underwent surgery on his right middle finger and has an expected recovery time of 4-6 weeks.

The news was more encouraging on forwards David Krejci (upper body) and Craig Smith (upper body). While neither will play Thursday against the Rangers, Montgomery said both are "day-to-day" and could be possibilities for Saturday in Toronto.

Swayman's left knee got bent backwards when Patrice Bergeron accidentally crashed into it. With him out, the Bruins have recalled veteran Keith Kinkaid from AHL Providence. Linus Ullmark will start Thursday night.

Mike Reilly, who hasn't played since Oct. 25, will re-enter the lineup to replace Forbort, who took a shot off his right hand/wrist/forearm area. Jakub Zboril will remain a healthy scratch at least for Thursday, but this could be a fluid situation from game-to-game until one of Forbort or Charlie McAvoy return.

Here is the Bruins' expected lineup for Thursday night based on morning skate:

Brad Marchand - Patrice Bergeron - Jake DeBrusk
Taylor Hall - Pavel Zacha - David Pastrnak
Trent Frederic - Charlie Coyle - A.J. Greer
Nick Foligno - Tomas Nosek - Jakub Lauko

Hampus Lindholm - Connor Clifton
Matt Grzelcyk - Brandon Carlo
Mike Reilly - Anton Stralman
