Bruins schedule released, including season-opener Jan. 14 in New Jersey

We knew the NHL was targeting a Jan. 13 start, and now we know when the Bruins will start and what the rest of their 2020-21 season schedule looks like.

Boston will open the season on Thursday, Jan. 14 in New Jersey against the Devils. In what is a common theme across the league as it tries to cut down on travel, the Bruins' second game on Saturday, Jan. 16 is also in New Jersey.

Of the Bruins' 56 games this season, only six are standalone games. All the rest are two-game home or road series.

After the season-opening series in New Jersey, the Bruins play a road game against the Islanders before opening their home slate with two games against the Flyers followed by two against the Penguins.

The entire regular season and the first two rounds of the playoffs will feature exclusively divisional play, meaning the Bruins will play the other seven East Division teams -- the Sabres, Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Flyers, Penguins and Capitals -- eight times apiece, four at home and four away. The top four teams in the division will make the playoffs.

The Bruins' regular season concludes on Saturday, May 8 against the Rangers.
