Things just got even tougher for the banged-up Bruins. Minutes before the start of Friday night's Game 3, the Bruins announced that David Krejci would not play due to an upper-body injury.
Krejci missed the final six games of the regular season while dealing with a lingering injury, but he played the first two games of Boston's first-round series against the Florida Panthers. In fact, he led all Bruins forwards in ice time, averaging 20:13 per game.
Nick Foligno, who was originally slated to be scratched based on Friday's morning skate, re-enters the lineup with Krejci out.
The Bruins are already without captain and fellow center Patrice Bergeron, who has now missed all three games with an upper-body injury of his own. He is expected to miss Game 4 as well, but coach Jim Montgomery did say on Friday that the team believes Bergeron is "likely" to return for Game 5 back in Boston.
