The David Krejci-David Pastrnak linemate experiment didn't last long Thursday night, because unfortunately for the Bruins, Krejci didn't last long.
During the second period, the Bruins announced that their second-line center had been ruled out for the remainder of the game with a lower-body injury.
It's unclear exactly what happened to Krejci. NHL.com's time on ice report says he took a nine-second shift early in the second period, but after rewinding, it doesn't appear he actually did.
His last full shift was at the end of the first period. Nothing obvious jumped out in terms of a play that would've caused an injury, but it did look like he was a laboring a little bit, so it's possible something happened even before then.
Krejci has yet to score a goal this season, but he's still tied for fourth on the team in points thanks to 10 assists.
(Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy had no further update on Krejci after the game and said the team would know more on Friday.)
