On Monday, it was learned that Torey Krug suffered an ankle injury during the final preseason game against Philadelphia. Krug will be out at least three weeks and will be evaluated at that point. This injury is not related to the ankle he fractured last season.
Bruce Cassidy also said that Patrice Bergeron should be good to go for Wednesday's season opener against the Washington Capitals. Bergeron underwent groin surgery after last season and has taken more time than expected to recover.
Don Sweeney also announced that Peter Cehlarik and Trent Frederic have been sent to the Providence Bruins (AHL).
With Krug hitting the injury block, Urho Vaakanainen may play in his first NHL game Wednesday night. The final lines are to be determined but this is what they looked like in practice Monday:
