Patrice Bergeron did not take the ice for warmups Monday night and will miss Game 1 of the Boston Bruins' first-round series against the Florida Panthers.
Bergeron has been dealing with both an upper-body injury and an illness, and it is believed that the illness is the bigger factor in his absence Monday night.
Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said Monday morning that a bug has been running through the locker room for 10-14 days and that a couple other guys besides Bergeron had been dealing with it as well. Among those known to have been affected in recent weeks are Jakub Lauko, Tomas Nosek, David Pastrnak and Jeremy Swayman.
Swayman missed Sunday's practice, but returned to the ice Monday and will back up starter Linus Ullmark Monday night.
Pavel Zacha will take Bergeron's spot between Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk. Meanwhile, Nick Foligno and Derek Forbort are both back in the lineup as they return from injuries that had landed them on long-term injured reserve. Here is the full Game 1 lineup for the Bruins:
