Zdeno Chara returned to TD Garden Wednesday night for his first game there as a visitor since March 16, 2006.
While there were no fans in attendance to give the longtime Bruins captain the loud standing ovation he deserves, the Bruins did still find a way to get fans involved in a thank-you message that aired on the jumbotron.
The video tribute included not just highlights from Chara's 14 years in Boston, but also fans thanking the 43-year-old now-Capitals defenseman via Zoom. Chara responded with a quick wave and stick tap, while all the Bruins and Capitals honored Chara with a collective stick tap.
