What do the Bruins need to contend next season?
On Sunday, Jon Lyons and Nick "Fitzy" Stevens were on WEEI and discussed the Bruins' elimination in the playoffs by the Florida Panthers and what they can do to improve next year. Specifically, the guys feel Boston needs to improve their top-line center and add more scoring from their forwards.
"They need offensive help," Lyons said. "They were 13th in goals scored per game this year, 14th on the power play. Five out of the six games vs. Florida, they scored two goals or less….They need to bring in at least one other legit scoring threat besides Pastrnak. This year, Pastrnak with fifth in the NHL in points with 110. The next guy on the Bruins was Marchand and he was 62nd."
Added Fitzy: "You can't play a series against a team like the Panthers that you know are tough and will put a barrage of shots on the net and get one combined goal from Pastrnak and Marchand."
