Jake DeBrusk returned to the Bruins' lineup Sunday in Anaheim after being healthy-scratched Saturday in Los Angeles because he was late to a team meeting.

He responded well on the ice playing on a line with Matt Poitras and Morgan Geekie, including being involved in the build-up on both of Poitras's goal. On the first, he started the transition up ice with some good defensive-zone work and a breakout pass to Ian Mitchell. On the second, he found open space in the high slot and took the shot that led to the rebound Poitras buried.

After the game, DeBrusk addressed the infraction that led to his benching.

"We have a high standard on this team," DeBrusk said. "We have a higher standard than people give credit for. I broke a team rule. I understand there's consequences with that, and I own up to it completely. I let the guys down. I wanted to join them in L.A. yesterday, and having to watch really sucked. I felt it. I just wanted to do anything I could to help the team out today in any way.

"I was just kind of focused on tonight. I'm proud to be a Bruin. I'm proud of the standards we have here. It is what it is. I don't have a rebuttal or anything on it. That's kind of all I'll say on it. ... We're moving forward here as a group."

Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said on Sunday that he thought DeBrusk handled the benching "well."

"He handled it like a pro," Montgomery said.

"There's just a standard that we believe in here, and when that standard isn't met, there's repercussions," he added. "But yesterday's over with. It's a new day and we're moving forward."
