While health has emerged as the Bruins' biggest concern in the wake of injuries to David Pastrnak, Trent Frederic and Hampus Lindholm this week, another potential concern that has surfaced is the recent struggles of rookie goalie Jeremy Swayman.
Swayman has given up 12 goals in his last three starts and has just an .883 save percentage over his last nine. That comes on the heels of a dominant stretch that saw him post a .947 save percentage in 11 starts from Jan. 2-March 3.
So, with just 12 games left in the regular season, is it time to worry about Swayman? Mike Milbury doesn't think so. Making his weekly appearance on The Greg Hill Show, the former Bruins defenseman and coach explained why he thinks Swayman will be just fine.
"You're gonna have some tough outings. He's a young guy, but his personality to me seems such that he's gonna be able to handle it," Milbury said. "I mean, every young guy going into the playoffs is gonna have some level of apprehension, some level of anxiety. But there are some, and Swayman seems to be one of them, who can really keep a cool head. That's what they're counting on. What we don't know is how he'll react when the bullets are real in the playoffs. But I'm comfortable saying that I think he's going to be just fine."
