When you tune into the first Celtics broadcast of the 2020-21 season Tuesday, you will see a familiar face in a slightly different role.
As was first reported by the Boston Globe, Abby Chin -- who had been serving as the sideline reporter for NBC Sports Boston's presentation of Celtics games since 2013 -- has been re-hired to serve as the pregame and postgame show.
Chin's contract hadn't been renewed as part of a company-wide cost-cutting move by NBC Sports Boston's parent company NBCUniversal, which resulted in 20 people being laid off by NBCSB.
The hosting role opened up when Kyle Draper signed on to serve in a similar role for the Sacramento Kings' broadcast team.
Also included in the pregame and postgame shows for NBC Sports Boston will be Brian Scalabrine, Chris Forsberg, Chris Mannix and Kendrick Perkins.
The network will be broadcasting both preseason games along with 32 of 38 of the Celtics' tilts in the season's first-half.
