Al Horford doesn't see retirement in his near future. Instead, he envisions spending more time in Celtics green.
In a recent interview with Heavy.com's Steve Bulpett, Horford who played a crucial role in last season's NBA Finals run, said he wants to keep playing for a couple of more years.
"Yeah for sure, I've thought about it," said Horford in regards to his NBA future. "I want to keep playing for two, three more years, for sure."
There's little doubt Horford can still play at a high level. He experienced a rejuvenation with the Celtics last season, averaging 10.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest. Horford's shining moment probably came in the Semifinals against the Bucks, when he put up 22 and 30 points on consecutive nights.
This season, Horford, 36, is averaging 11.3 points per game and hitting 45.1 percent of his 3-pointers.
His workload is the only sign of his age: Horford is sitting out the second night of back-to-backs this season.
A free agent at the end of the season, Horford empathetically responded "yes" when asked if he wants to stay with the Celtics.
But he's being methodical, just like he is on the court.
"I think obviously there's so much stuff that's going on here, that's going on with the coach and stuff and just other guys and things like that where I'm just being patient," said Horford. "I'm sure that when the time comes we'll get to something. But, yeah, I want to keep playing."
The Celtics almost certainly feel the same way.
