The COVID-19 pandemic has kept fans out of sports arenas all over the world for over a year. But it couldn't keep the spirit of those fans down. From supporting their team, nor from sharing their excitement over an imminent return.
While things aren't completely back to normal, there's something comforting about watching fans get hype over the chance to pay a lot of money to return to watching their favorite team in-person.
Like Monday night, when Celtic Pride returned to TD Garden in the form of a couple thousand fans, 12% capacity to be exact, to watch the Celtics host the New Orleans Pelicans.
The evening marked the first home game fans were allowed to attend since March 8, 2020, when the Celtics lost to the Thunder (sadly, turns out their fans would have to wait longer for a win after falling to New Orleans). Sure, the team has had their share of ups and downs the past year, and could use an infusion of energy on the court as well as off. The fans seemed more than ready to do their part.
Watch as Celtics fans speak of their excitement about the team, coming together and getting to share in the communal experience, be it joyous or frustrating, again, in their house. It's as close to normal as we can feel these days. Win or lose that's a kind of a banner feeling.
