The buzz that the Celtics are looking to move up in the Nov. 18 NBA Draft is getting louder.
And now we might have the impetus for their perceived aggressive stance.
Okongwu is a 6-foot-9 power forward/center who had a stellar freshman season with USC, averaging 16.2 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. The California native is exactly the type of player many believe the Celtics need with the above-average ability to serve as a rim protector.
He is a former high school teammate of both Lonzo and LaMelo Ball, winning the California state championship while playing at Chino Hills High.
NBADraft.net currently projects Okongwu as the No. 3 overall pick, going to the Hornets. The Celtics currently hold the No. 14 overall pick.
