As COVID-19 continues to spread across the sports world, the Celtics now find themselves getting hit.
The team announced Friday morning that forwards Al Horford and Grant Williams have entered health and safety protocols, joining fellow forward Jabari Parker to make it three Celtics now in protocol.
Horford just had COVID-19 in October. It is unclear if he also tested positive this time.
The Celtics are scheduled to host the Golden State Warriors at TD Garden Friday night. As of Friday morning, the game is still on. The Warriors also had a player -- guard Jordan Poole -- placed in health and safety protocols on Friday.
The absences of Horford and Williams will certainly leave the Celtics shorthanded in the frontcourt. Horford has started 24 games this season and is averaging 12.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Williams has appeared in all 28 games this season, playing 22 minutes per game.
The Celtics canceled their Friday shootaround media availability. After Friday night's game, they host the Knicks on Saturday and 76ers on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Celtics' TD Garden building-mates, the Bruins, currently have seven players and two staff members in COVID protocols, and just had their game on Saturday in Montreal postponed.
