The Boston Celtics have recalled rookie Jordan Walsh from G-League affiliate Maine, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.
Walsh, Boston's lone draft selection in the 2023 NBA Draft, is yet to make his professional debut but has put together an excellent season in Maine, appearing in each of Maine's eight games, averaging 16.3 points per game, a team-high 7.9 rebounds, and an assist.
Notably, the former Arkansas Razorback is shooting 40.8% from distance in Maine, a significant improvement from 27.8% in his lone year in college. Walsh is one of three players in Maine shooting 40% or better from deep.
The Texas native built a reputation of being a terrific defender, which has translated to his time in Maine, averaging 1.3 blocks and a steal per game.
At 6-foot-7 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, Walsh's unique physical attributes add to his potential. Not turning 20 until March, he remains a prospect to watch closely.
With three starters listed as questionable for Wednesday night against Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs, Boston could be looking for some extra depth off the bench in Walsh.
Walsh is one of seven 2023 draftees who have yet to play in an NBA game.
