While the Celtics have some talented guards, it appears they may use the fast-approaching free agency period to find a replacement for Marcus Smart.
While Patrick Beverley seems to be interested in returning to Chicago, the Celtics may try to put a stop to that. According to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer, the Celtics are a suitor for the three-time NBA All-Defensive selection.
Beverley would make for a solid replacement for Smart. He’s still regarded as a tough defender, even though his last All-Defensive selection came in 2020. And while Beverley isn’t known for his offense, he’s still a career 37.3% 3-point shooter. He is coming off his worst year from deep, but he also took far fewer shots amidst his struggles.
