After acquiring Evan Fournier earlier Thursday, it doesn't appear Danny Ainge made any more big moves before the 3 p.m. trade deadline. Boston has reportedly made a smaller one right at the deadline, though.
According to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago, the Celtics are trading center Daniel Theis to the Bulls for center Mo Wagner. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed the report.
This appears to be a move made mostly for financial reasons, as it gets the Celtics back under the luxury tax. Keith Smith of Yahoo! Sports and CelticsBlog.com reports that the deal should also create an additional traded player exception for the Celtics worth $5 million if the deal stands as is.
However, Mark Murphy reports that there is more to the deal, with Jeff Teague and Javonte Green heading out too. Check back for more details as they come out.
The 23-year-old Wagner, who coincidentally is from Germany like Theis, is averaging 7.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per game in 25 games (13 starts) for the Wizards this season. He was traded from the Wizards to Bulls earlier Thursday.
UPDATE: Mark Murphy reports the Celtics are also getting backup big Luke Kornet in the trade.
