Ime Udoka may not survive this story.

Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix reports the Celtics head coach has "considered the possibility of resigning" in the wake of reports that he carried on a romantic relationship with a female staffer.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday morning that Udoka could be suspended for one year.

Mannix says Celtics coaches are preparing to work without Udoka this season. "Internally, coaches and staff members are bracing for the likelihood that Udoka will be suspended for one year for having a relationship with a female staffer," tweeted Mannix.

On Wednesday night, Wojnarowski first reported that Udoka was facing a "significant suspension" for violating team rules. NBA Insider Shams Charania was the first to report on the alleged relationship.

The Celtics haven't released a statement as of early Thursday afternoon.

In the event Udoka is suspended for the 2022-23 season, Wojnarowski reports the Celtics will likely promote assistant coach Joe Mazzulla.

Mannix adds that longtime NBA coach Frank Vogel, could be considered. The Lakers fired Vogel this summer after three seasons.
