Although the second half made most of Game 7's first half irrelevant, there was one outlandish play that shouldn't go ignored.
After winning a loose ball battle with James Harden in the second quarter, Jaylen Brown found himself on Philadelphia's bench briefly. Brown only lingered for a moment before separating from Philly's sideline, but almost as soon as he did, he turned around and started chirping at the 76ers' sideline.
Everyone's favorite referee, Scott Foster, quickly hit Brown with a tech, but it was clear something was amiss. The replay revealed Georges Niang had interfered with Brown as he tried to return to the court. Niang was whistled for a tech, but Foster and company didn't remove Brown's.
Brown did find one thing odd about the situation when breaking it down after the game, but none of that energy was directed toward Niang
"I don't think Niang is a bad guy or anything. I work out with him in the offseason. I just think he just got caught up in the intensity of the game and made a play. And I responded to it," Brown said. "I don't know which way I should've responded to it. But if I didn't do anything, (we) probably would've played on.
And here comes Scott Foster. Right away, before even deciphering the situation, gives me a tech. I definitely didn't want to get a tech in that situation. But somehow, coming out of all of that commotion, it ended up being even. There was no advantage from that."
