The Celtics on Friday afternoon announced that Jaylen Brown has tested positive for COVID-19. He is asymptomatic and currently in quarantine.
Brown will miss the Celtics' preseason game against Toronto on Saturday. It is unclear how much more time he might miss beyond that.
Brown, whose 2020-21 season was ended by a wrist injury, looked great in the Celtics' preseason opener on Monday, his first game back. Brown led all players with 25 points in 26 minutes in a 98-97 win over the Magic.
Brown did not publicly share his vaccination status when asked about players' decisions regarding the vaccine on media day, saying, "I have my own thoughts about it. I respect my teammates' decisions and things like that. I know everybody has their own opinion on it. I think it's a personal choice."
The Celtics' first regular-season game is Oct. 20 in New York against the Knicks.
