Jayson Tatum to return from Achilles tear against Mavericks

After nearly 300 days of rehabilitation, Jayson Tatum is officially available for Friday's Celtics game against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Celtics released an updated injury report early Friday afternoon, upgrading Tatum from his previous status of "Questionable" to "Available."

Tatum, an NBA Champion, six-time NBA All-Star, and four-time All-NBA First Teamer, tore his Achilles tendon on May 12, 2025. Since then, he's been ruled 'Out' for every game - until the team began upgrading his status over the last two days.

Tatum joins a Boston team holding the 2-seed in a tight Eastern Conference race, with just 20 games left until the postseason.

In his absence, Jaylen Brown has made a strong case for his own All-NBA honors. Brown has posted career-high marks nearly across the board and is in contention to make his debut on the First Team ballot.

The Celtics beat a very different lineup of the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals at TD Garden in six games.
