The asking price will be steep for the 25-year-old guard, Woj noted, but the team is “no longer dismissing calls on Mitchell.”

Mitchell is a three-time All-Star who is averaging 23.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game over the course of his first five seasons in the NBA.

It is unclear which teams may be showing interest in Mitchell, but expect the New York Knicks to be linked to him.

Mitchell is a New York native and the Knicks are loaded with assets — holding nine first-round picks over the next five drafts — so they certainly have the picks to meet a steep asking price for the Jazz.

With the Nets looking to trade Kevin Durant and teams like the Heat and Suns needing another trade partner, perhaps Brooklyn could be linked to him, too. The Heat could also change course and focus their pursuit on Mitchell instead of Durant .

Trading Mitchell is a signal that the Jazz are fully committed to a rebuild. Utah recently traded All-Star center Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for four first-round picks. It’s possible Mitchell would command even more.
