Keefe: Brad Stevens may be Andy Reid, pre-2019

Rich Keefe is not pleased with the coach of the Boston Celtics.

"I'm starting to think -- and a lot of it is on the players -- but I'm starting to think Brad Stevens is Andy Reid, pre-2019," Keefe proclaimed during Thursday's Dale & Keefe Show, citing the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs who was known for his inability to win the big game until finally claiming the Lombardi Trophy last season.

'Really good coach, but until Andy Reid won the Super Bowl the biggest knock on him was great coach but won't win the big game. He's not going to get you there. That maybe is more of a slap in the face to Andy Reid because he to a Super Bowl once and lost, whereas Brad Stevens ... If you're the plucky underdog than Brad Stevens is going to milk every once, every win there he is going to get. But now you're like, 'What is this?'

'A couple of years ago everybody gives him credit but the reality is they blew a 3-2 lead and they lost it. Last year was obviously a mess and Kyrie (Irving) got a lot of the blame but maybe it shouldn't have all been on Kyrie. This year the path opens up. You should be in the NBA Finals and now you're down 3-1 and you're getting out-coached for a second straight seres."

The venom comes from, of course, the Celtics' latest loss, a Game 4 defeat at the hands of Erik Spoelstra and his Miami Heat Wednesday night.

This marks the third time Stevens has led the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals, losing to the Cavaliers in 2017 (4-1) and 2018 (4-3). He owns a 71-36 mark in the postseason, having made the playoffs in all but one of his seven seasons.
