Nets general manager Sean Marks announced he, Steve Nash, Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai met with Durant and Rich Kleiman Monday. The group managed to come to an agreement on their partnership after Durant had informed the Tsais their choice was going to come down to Brooklyn’s franchise player or the GM and head coach.

“We are focusing on basketball, with one collective goal in mind: build a lasting franchise to bring a championship to Brooklyn,” Marks said in the announcement.

Durant had requested a trade back on June 30, despite being under contract with Brooklyn for four more seasons. The Celtics had been among the teams he was reportedly interested in joining.

Former Celtic turned Net Kyrie Irving is under contract with Brooklyn for one more season. He was not included in Marks’ announcement regarding Durant’s future.
