The Celtics made some additions to the roster, which has some room on it after Boston's moves at the NBA trade deadline. Malik Fitts and Kelan Martin have both signed 10-day contracts with the Celtics.
But what can these two bring to Boston?
"We're looking for a specific skill set, body type and some of the things that match well with our team," Ime Udoka said. "We think those two fit into that role."
If only one of the two sticks, Martin seems more likely to do so. He's only played in one more NBA season than Fitts, but Martin has far more experience; Fitts has only played in 10 NBA games versus Martin's 93. However, at 6-foot-8, Fitts provides more length than the 6-foot-5 Martin.
Fitts was previously with the Clippers and Nuggets. Martin started out with Minnesota, but he played in Indiana the last two seasons, shooting 30.9% from three and averaging 6.5 rebounds per 36 minutes to this point in his NBA career.
But Boston's post-deadline moves won't necessarily stop with Martin and Fitts.
"As far as the buyouts, we'll see what happens," Udoka said. "The names that are being floated out there, as far as possibilities, if something makes sense, obviously we have roster spots, so you can do something.
"But for the most part, we're focused on the guys we have and incorporating Derrick (White) and Daniel (Theis) back into the mix and having them build with the lineups and players we have. So, that's really the focus, and we'll see what happens down the line as far as anything else."
