Even after some recent signs of life it would appear as if the Celtics need a bit of a shakeup. So what to do?
Well, here is a trade proposal that might be worth considering ...
Celtics get: Domantas Sabonis, Justin Holiday.
Pacers get: Marcus Smart, Rob Williams, Juancho Hernangomez.
The key coming back for the Celtics is obviously Sabonis, the 25-year-old forward who is averaging 18.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game, shooting a career-best 59.1 percent from the floor.
Holiday is another useful piece who totals 27.8 minutes per game with Indiana, averaging 9.7 points.
As for the duo's contract status, Sabonis is signed through the 2023-24 season, making $18.5 million this year and next and $19.4 million in his final season. Holiday is a free agent after the 2022-23 campaign, making just more than $6 million this season and next.
Smart and Williams would obviously be tough to move on from, despite all the frustrations that occasionally come with each. But something needs to be done, even if it stings a little.
