Charles Barkley had quite the brain lapse during Tuesday’s NBA on TNT pregame show for Game 4 of the Bucks and Hawks Eastern Conference Finals matchup.
With the big news centering around Trae Young being out for the game, the crew was discussing who the Hawks should turn to and start in place of the 22-year-old guard.
Barkley suggested instead of Lou Williams, the Hawks should play Jeff Teague.
The only problem: Jeff Teague plays for the Milwaukee Bucks.
The rest of the crew looked at Barkley perplexed and he responded, “yeah, Jeff Teague. I would start him.”
That’s when host Ernie Johnson informed Barkley that he is “not exacly on the Atlanta Hawks.”
Barkley began to backtrack while Shaq muttered, “big dummy.”
“I’m forgetting somebody, my mistake,” Barkley said. “Look I can make a mistake. Who’s another guard on the Hawks?”
Barkley may have been referring to Kris Dunn, although he said he was not thinking of him.
Whatever the case may be, you can always count on Barkley to provide an authentic moment.
