Frederick Richard details what it was like to get USA men's gymnastics back on Olympic podium

On Saturday, Jon Lyons and Chris Scheim were joined by Olympic medalist and Massachusetts native Frederick Richard on WEEI (listen to the full interview below). Richard, whose "Freddie Flips" Instagram and TikTok accounts have become world famous, detailed his experiences in Paris at the Olympic Games and what it felt like to help Team USA capture bronze, their first men's gymnastics medal since 2008.

When asked about his experiences on the team, Richard detailed the unforgettable experience.

"There were a million emotions all the time," Richard said. "So much is going on. You're representing the whole country, millions of people. You've trained for this one competition for your whole life and that's the only thing you plan for on the sports side. This is when it all matters and you have to trust your training. This is when all the emotions hit at once, but it's a crazy experience and I feel like I grew so much from it and coming home with a medal is the greatest highlight, of course."

Another hot topic has been the food for athletes at the Olympics and when asked, Richard did not mince words: "I'm an honest person," he said. "The food sucked. It wasn't so bad that you couldn't eat it, but it was the most bland food."
